California Crews Tackle Wildfire Blaze

Oct. 17, 2008
Crews successfully cut off the blaze from homes nearby

Here are some photos I took while my engine responded to the initaial attack on the Juliet Fire that was located on Camp Pendleton, Calif.

My engine was part of an Immediate Need Strike Team of Type 3 Engines from the Cleveland National Forest Trabuco Ranger District.

We got dispatched a little after 3 p.m. and arrived on scene shortly after the fire had jumped Vandergrift Rd. on the Marine base. We took action on left flank with four of our CNF engines and successfully cut it off from a tract of homes nearby.

With the Santa Ana winds on it, this fire was movin'! With the Air Assests, successful firing operations and the winds dying down, this was looking real good that first night.
