Aircraft Accident in Soldotna, Alaska

The pilot suffered a cut elbow as he climbed out of the wreckage.

In Soldotna, Alaska just after 10 a.m. Tuesday April 24, Central Emergency Services was dispatched to the Soldotna City Airport for a reported aircraft accident. Firefighters found a Piper PA-22-135 fixed wing, single-engine airplane on its roof.

The pilot suffered a cut elbow as he was climbing out of the plane.

A crosswind lifted the left wing of the plane and pushed it off the runway while the pilot was trying to land.

Central Emergency Services responded with Medic One and Rescue One, plus command and support staff.
