Five Structures Destroyed in New Orleans

April 20, 2007
An abandoned school located directly behind the buildings was saved by firefighters.

New Orleans fire investigators said revenge might be to blame in a three-alarm blaze in Central City.

The fire in the 3200 block of Washington Avenue near the corner of South Roman Street involved five buildings, including a cabinet shop.

Crews were able to get the fire under control, but the buildings are considered a total loss.

The owner of one of the buildings said he'd been letting people live there, but that the electric bill became a problem and he had the power turned off.

Investigators said they're looking into whether the fight over that electric bill led to arson, but they said it's too early to tell for sure.
