Canadian Firefighter Ejected after Engine Collides with Rig

Quebec City Engine 203 was responding to a crash Thursday when it struck a semi-trailer on its side at the intersection of Charest Road and Aqueduc Street.

The driver was ejected from the cab and was found lying meters from the truck's final resting place. He was conscious, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital by paramedics.

Meanwhile, rescuers aboard Quint 305 extricated the officer from his position as he was still pinned down to his seat. Suffering broken bones and injuries to his face, he was considered in stable condition.

As for the operator, his condition is still unknown but less serious than initially thought. The two other firefighters riding in Engine 203, and the driver of the semi escaped unharmed.
