Freezing temperatures and gusts up to 40mph made this fire in a house under renovation extremely difficult to control.

The Roosevelt Fire Department had their hands full with this wind-driven blaze in the early morning hours of Tuesday March 6. Freezing temperatures and gusts up to 40mph made this fire in a house under renovation extremely difficult to control.

Flying embers were a major concern to surrounding properties and mutual aid was called from several surrounding communities to patrol the exposures. Nassau County Fire Marshals were summoned to the scene to investigate the cause.
