Virginia Beach firefighters Respond to House Fire

Fire attack crews removed several pets from the structure.

Virginia Beach VA -- Virginia Beach firefighters responded to a reported house fire in the 2500 block of Strawbridge Trail January 31, 2007. Engine and Ladder 21 was first in and upon arrival found heavy smoke and fire issuing from a one story wood framed dwelling. Engine 21's Captain "Woody" Landgrover and his crew stretched an inch and three quarter hand line to the A/B side of the structure and knocked some of fire down from the outside before advancing inside.

As additional fire units arrived, a backup line was deployed and manned as well as a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) on stand-by. Fire attack crews moved deeper into the dwelling and removed several pets and knocked the fire down. Crews performed overall and extinguished the blaze. No injuries to firefighters were reported. The fire is under investigation.
