Morris County, New Jersey Rescuers Train on The Ice

The class started early on Saturday morning with a 9 hour in door training session on ropes and knots, ice rescue sleds, ice poles, harness and rope bags.

On January 27th and 28th 2007 the Budd Lake Fire Department sponsored a Ice Rescue Class at there fire house and the lake. A mix of 35 Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technician from Budd Lake, Millington, Morristown, Washington Twp. and Randolph and a state ranger all took part in a two day drill on Ice Rescue.

The class started early on Saturday morning with a 9 hour in door training session on ropes and knots, ice rescue sleds, ice poles, harness and rope bags. Then on Sunday the morning got started with a briefing and on the Ice by 9:00 am with real training by putting victims in the water and rescuers on sleds making rescues.

All the wile thinking about the 25 or so people that were ice fishing all around them hoping they did not have to rescue any of them.
