Extrication of both pinned drivers was completed in 20 minutes, and all patients were transported for further treatment.

At approximately 7:15 a.m. Salisbury Fire Department Stations 2 and 16 were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle collision with rescue on Northwood Drive involving a Salisbury Police Department vehicle. Upon arrival of Paramedic 2, it was discovered to be a head-on two vehicle collision with entrapment in both vehicles.

Truck 2 stabilized one vehicle while the crew of Rescue 16 stabilized the other vehicle. Crews used hydraulic tools from both Truck 2 and Rescue 16 to simultaneously perform extrication of both victims. The crew of Truck 2, a quint, also placed a hose line in service for crew protection. While crews performed extrication activities, it was discovered that a third vehicle was involved and its occupant was experiencing chest pain. Command then requested a third EMS unit while care was initiated on that patient.

Extrication of both pinned drivers was completed in 20 minutes, and all patients were transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
