Lynchburg, VA FD Contains 2 Alarm Townhouse Fire

The cause of the fire was a clothes dryer malfunction.

On Monday January 8th Lynchburg fire department responded to the Tenbury Square Apartments for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival Battalion 2 reported “Working fire, 2 story wood frame extending to exposure B, person at second floor window."

Initial units arrived on scene 5 minutes after first dispatch. A second alarm was initiated on arrival. Upon arrival the fire had attacked both adjoining units. LFD responded 4 engines, 2 Truck Companies, 1 Rescue, 2, ALS Ambulances, 2 Battalion Chiefs, 1 Deputy Chief, 1 Safety Officer, Fire Marshal's Office Personnel and Lynchburg Lifesaving Crew. Fire was stopped utilizing two truck companies working in unison with interior attack crews.

Fire cause was a clothes dryer malfunction. No civilian injuries were reported. One Lynchburg Firefighter was injured but treated on the scene by LFD Medics.
