Littleton, Colorado House Burns

Jan. 5, 2007
People in the area reported hearing several explosions before the fire.

Early Wednesday afternoon West Metro firefighters were alerted to the area of Ken Caryl Avenue and Kipiling Street for multiple reports of a house fire.

A large smoke column was visible for miles, and was reported by a pilot to local dispatch. Residents told firefighters they heard several explosions.

The Denver metro area has been hit with several feet of snow over the past three weeks causing responders to contend with difficult road conditions.

Upon arrival crews found a two-story single family residence with heavy fire conditions on both floors. Firefighters searched, vented and gained control of the fire within 15 minutes.

West Metro Fire Rescue responded with three Squrts, one engine, one tower, one medic unit, one district chief and a safety officer.

There were no injuries, and the fire remains under investigation.
