Furniture Store in Iuka, Mississippi Destroyed by Fire

Firefighters went inside the store to try to put out the flames but had to leave when the floor of the warehouse started falling in.

State investigators are expected in Iuka later today to try to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a furniture store in Iuka.

Firefighters were called between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. to Town and Country Furniture at Highways 25 and 172. Fire Chief Brian Grissom says the fire began in the store's warehouse, which was in the attic.

Firefighters went inside the store to try to put out the flames but had to leave when the floor of the warehouse started falling in.

The fire was so massive that a ladder truck was brought from Corinth to spray water on the flames. No injuries were reported.
