Tractor Trailers Collide on Alabama Interstate

Heflin Fire Department, Cleburne County EMS, and Alabama State Troopers responded to a MVA involving two 18 wheelers on May 25, 2004 at 11:30 p.m.

Heflin Fire Department, Cleburne County EMS, and Alabama State Troopers responded to a MVA involving two 18 wheelers on May 25, 2004 at 11:30 p.m. Upon arrival of fire personnel it was discovered that an 18 wheeler traveling west bound on I-20 struck the trailer of another 18-wheeler which was parked in the emergency lane. After striking the trailer, the truck crossed the media and came to a stop in the east bound lane of I-20. Due to debris only one lane of traffic was open each direction for over 2 hours while wrecker crews removed the truck.

The driver of the truck was injured and transported via Cleburne County EMS to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center for treatment. The driver and passenger of the other truck were not injured.
