On November 3, 2006 Sussex County 911 alerted Station 74 (Delmar), Medic 102 (Sussex County EMS) and Delaware State Police Trooper 2 for an accident with injuries and rescue at the intersection of Route 13 and Snake Road north of town. Paramedic A.74 arrived to find a two vehicle accident with the driver of one trapped and with severe injuries.

Deputy 74 (J. Morris Jr.) arrived and established the "Route 13 Command" while the crew of Rescue 74 went to work with the Hurst tools to remove the patient. Station 74 Fire Police shut down the south bound lanes of Route 13 so Trooper 2 could land near the scene. The rescue crew removed the roof and driver's side door in about 8 minutes and then removed the patient.

EMS crews packaged the Priority 1 patient and loaded her onto Trooper 2 where she was flown to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury for treatment. The driver of the pick up refused treatment at the scene. Delaware State Police is doing an investigation to what caused the accident. Additional units on the scene included Paramedic B.74, Engine 743, Engine 812 (Laurel), Traffic Control 74 and the Delaware State Police.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
