Camden City, New Jersey 3rd Alarm

It was reported that 1 firefighter with a minor leg injury was transported to the hospital. The fire was brought under control within 1 ½ hrs. after dispatch.

On the evening of November 4th, 2006 at approx 10:00 pm Camden City Firefighters were alerted to 623 State Street for a reported Dwelling fire. Engine 6, Engine 1, Ladder 1, Ladder 3, Rescue 1, and Battalion 2 were dispatched to the location. Engine 6 and Battalion 2 arrived to find heavy fire showing from a 3 story M/O/R dwelling with extension to the exposure dwellings as well.

Then an additional Engine was requested, which brought Engine 11 and Battalion 1. Shortly after Battalion 2 reported that Rescue 1 had heavy fire from the rear and a 2nd Alarm was requested by the Battalion. Engine 9, Squad 7, Ladder 2 and Car 3 were dispatched to this assignment. Companies operated with multiple handlines and elevated master streams for approx 20 mins before the 3rd Alarm was struck. Mutual Aid companies were dispatched along with Engine 8, and Engine 10. Pennsauken Companies, Engine 1142, Quint 11-6 and Mask Services 11-4 were on the 3rd Alarm.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions throughout the incident and due to the original dwelling appearing to be vacant; no firefighters were permitted within the dwelling. UMDNJ EMS along with Virtua-Paramedics were at the scene as well for standby. Camden County Canteen was brought for refreshments.

It was reported that 1 firefighter with a minor leg injury was transported to the hospital. The fire was brought under control within 1 ½ hrs. after dispatch.
