Oct. 31, 2006
Fire conditions quickly made the interior untenable, yet the firefighters pushed themselves above and beyond in their rescue efforts.

At approximately 2130 hours, Paris’ Engines 1, 3, 4; Rescue 1 and Command 1 were dispatched to a reported structure fire with a baby still in the house at 500 East Price Street in Paris, Texas.

First arriving units found a one story structure well involved with fire at the rear of the house. Firefighters immediately made entry in an attempt to locate the boy. Fire conditions quickly made the interior untenable, yet the firefighters pushed themselves above and beyond in their rescue efforts. The last firefighter exited the structure through the front door on his back with flames two feet above his torso.

Despite their heroic efforts, the child succumbed to the fire. Through an incredibly tragic situation, the citizens of Paris should be proud of the effort put forth by every one of their firefighters.
