Fatal MVA Crash in Stanley, North Carolina

Police now say that alcohol was a factor in the crash. A 16-year-old has been charged with second degree murder, DWI and reckless driving.

On October 15, 2006 one person was killed and another was taken to the hospital Sunday morning after a there Dodge Neon ran off the road and hit a utility pole breaking it into three pieces. It happened on Hickory Grove Road near Spargo Street Just outside Stanley NC.

The pole snapped and power had to be cut off before rescue and fire could gain access to the vehicle. There was also a second vehicle that hit low cable lines that were stretched across the road causing damage to the front of the pick-up truck. That driver was not injured.

Police now say that alcohol was a factor in the crash. A 16-year-old has been charged with second degree murder, DWI and reckless driving. His passenger a 17 year old male was killed in the crash.

East Gaston VFD, Community VFD, Dallas Rescue and GEMS responded to the accident.
