Exeter Township, PA Firefighters Battle Garage Fire

At 17:05 hours the Reiffton Fire Company (Company 2) along with companies 3, 7, and 1 were dispatched to the 6100 Block of Perkiomen Avenue in Exeter Township.

Friday, May 14, 2004 - At 17:05 hours the Reiffton Fire Company (Company 2) along with companies 3, 7, and 1 were dispatched to the 6100 Block of Perkiomen Avenue in Exeter Township, Berks County, PA for a reported garage fire.

Stonersville Fire Marshall (3-18) arrived on the scene and reported a working garage fire.

Birdsboro, Engine 7, arrived and went into service. Reiffton Captain (2-14) pulled the 1 ?" trash line from the bumper of Engine 7 to protect the nearby exposure (two story home) and attack the fire and Reiffton Captain (2-15) and a Birdsboro Firefighter pulled a 2 ?" blitz line off the engine to attack the fire.

The exposure was protected and the bulk of the fire was blackened down with tank water in a matter of minutes.

Due to the aggressive attack by firefighters the structure was saved and Stonersville incident command recalled Company 1. Stonersville, Engine 3, went into service with an 1 ?" CAFS line to hit some hot spots and assist with mop-up.

A great job was done by all personnel on scene to control the spread of fire and limit the damage to the structure.

Company 2 cleared the call at 18:02 hours.
