Pasco County Fire Rescue companies could see the smoke column as they responded from their quarters on Saturday, May 1, 2004. Dispatch reported a mobile home fire on Theresa Lane, off of Powerline Road.

Two companies responded from Station 24 in Dade City. The station currently houses Station 36 units while their station is due for construction this year. Two engines, two ALS rescues and Battalion 2 responded together for the alarm received in the early afternoon.

Tanker 24, a class A pumper, holding 200 gallons of water also was included in the response.

Units arrived to find a single-wide mobile home with heavy fire showing from Side A. The exposures were a garage and travel trailer. Two attack lines were deployed for a quick knock down.

The structure had an additional roof built over the unit which covered an attached car port. The double roof provided the challenge of having to gain access to a void area to complete extinguishment.

Companies spent hours overhauling the destroyed residence.

The owner and her teenage son escaped the flames before arrival of the units.
