On May 1, 2004 several elected officials including the Governor, Lt. Governor, State Rep. Nancy Wagner, Mayor Hutchison, Councilpersons Truit, Ruane and Williams attended the Housing & Dedication of two Fire Engines, a Ladder Truck and Brush Truck. The units were officially blessed and placed into service following the Old Dover Days Parade.
Mayor Hutchison was taken by surprise as he was made an Honorary Member of the Department for his unwavering support for the fire department during his years as mayor, he was then issued a fire helmet, badge and plaque from Chief Bashista.
The elected officials ceremoniously pushed the Brush Truck into the Station as firefighters pushed the two Engines and Ladder Truck into the building.
Over 200 people attended the event which was held at Fire Department Headquarters on Governors Avenue.
