Firefighters in the Landover Hills area of Prince George's County worked aggressively to contain an afternoon 3rd Alarm fire in a 3-story garden apartment building.

At approximately 1730 hours on April 18th, numerous 9-1-1 calls were received, reporting explosions and fire at 4432 68th Place in Landover Hills.

First arriving units encountered heavy fire conditions on the third floor of 4434 68th Place and on the rear balcony area of both buildings. As firefighters worked to extinguish the original fire apartment, the floor below became involved as well. Firefighters worked for over 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The fire damaged two buildings and displaced nearly 100 residents. Eight firefighters were injured (burns and smoke inhalation) during the blaze. They were treated and released. This fire is still under investigation.
