Minnesota firefighters were called to action after a collision that was caused by a power outage.

Richfield crews were alerted to a two-vehicle crash on Portland Avenue at 70th Street East just after 11 a.m. on Sept. 29. A power outage in the area caused the traffic signals to go out, which is blamed for the crash.

Richfield Quint 1 and Engine 2, along with paramedics from Hennepin County Medical Center, arrived to find a collision between a dump truck and a sport utility vehicle, trapping the SUV driver.

Firefighters worked for 10 minutes to free the driver, who was suffering from an open fracture.
