Fire investigators from Prince George's County Fire Department are trying to determine what caused a two-alarm fire in Greenbelt on the morning of Sept. 28.

Just before 7:30 units from Greenbelt, Branchville, Berwyn Heights and surrounding fire companies were alerted from a report of a building on fire at the old Greenbelt Nursing Home in the 7000 block of Greenbelt Road.

Truck 814 from Berwyn Heights station 814 arrived on the scene, and the crew reported a one-story vacant building with heavy fire showing. They requested a second=alarm to be transmitted bringing over 50 more firefighters to help battle the fire.

Due to the building being vacant and with heavy fire conditions, firefighters had to battle the fire from the outside.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. There were no injuries.

The fire is under investigation.
