Georgia Crews Respond to Standoff

The suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound

On August 24, Augusta Richmond County Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire involving a SWAT standoff.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office were attempting to serve a warrant on a suspect for domestic violence when he ran into the house and barricaded himself in.

When deputies got to the door they smelled gasoline and saw smoke.

That is when a single gunshot was heard. Arriving SWAT team members gained entry and found the suspect had killed himself with a self inflicted gunshot wound. Augusta Richmond County Fire Rescue contained the fire to the front portion of the house.
