Virginia Firefighters Respond to Blaze

Embers and debris were spreading a large distance.

At approx 8:45 pm on Thursday, Sept. 11, Fairfax County 9-1-1 received multiple calls reporting a large structure fire at 6065 Richmond Highway in the Fairhaven section of the county.

Firefighters were later advised that several additional callers were reporting structure fires around the original incident scene. The crews of Truck and Engine 411 found a fully involved hotel. It under construction.

In addition, there was fire damage at a house, and to the roof of a high-rise across the street. Embers and debris were spreading a large distance.

Command requested a second and not much later a third-alarm bringing units from Alexandria and Fort Belvior.

There were over 100 firefighters on scene. Units were starting to be released at midnight. Cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damage is estimated at $2m.
