Tybee Island, Georgia (Chatham County) -- Tybee Island Ocean Rescue responded to the north side of the Tybee Pier for a couple in distress.
Several of the lifeguards made entry into the water and fought the fierce rip currents to save the couple.
The strong rip currents are being generated by Hurricane Gustav and Hannah that's headed towards the eastern seaboard causing high winds and rough surf..
The couple sustained no injuries. Medstar EMS was on scene throughout the day.
