Just after 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 20, Wicomico County Central alerted Station 74 (Delmar), Station 2 (Salisbury) and Station 5 (Hebron) for a working structure fire with a report of two people trapped inside at 101 Spruce Street.

Deputy Chief D. Scott arrived to find a 1 1/2-story private dwelling with smoke and fire visible from the exterior. All occupants living in the home were accounted for upon his arrival.

First arriving Engine 74-3 spotted a hydrant and back-stretched a 1 3/4-inch hose line through the front door. Truck 74 along with Truck 2 was ordered to ladder the roof and ventilate. The crew from Engine 503 assisted the initial interior crews with containing the fire. All companies were on scene for nearly three hours.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
