New Jersey Firefighters Battle Fatal Blaze

The fire was placed under control in approximately an hour and a half.

On June 9 at approximately 1 a.m., Pemberton Township Task Force 181 was dispatched to a dwelling fire at 608 Marie Drive in Browns Mills with the report of victims trapped.

First arriving Chief Officers reported the house to be heavily involved with three victims trapped inside. Chief Augustoni opened a command post and Chief Davis opened operations. Squirt 1812 was first due and crews led off with multiple hand lines. Ladder 6825 arrived with orders to set up for ladder pipe operations.

Engine 1811, Engine 1833 and RIT 1911 filled out the first alarm assignment. Browns Mills firefighters were able to reach one victim in Division C , and the victim was removed. Unfortunately all three victims were fatalities.

The fire was placed under control in approximately an hour and a half. Units were on scene from Browns Mills Fire Company, Country Lakes Fire Company, Fort Dix Fire Department, Goodwill Fire Company, Browns Mills EMS, Country Lakes EMS, MONOC EMS and Virtual ALS. Cover assignments were in place from Presidential Lakes Fire Rescue, Magnolia Road Fire Company, Vincent Fire Company, and Cookstown Fire Company.

The fire is under investigation by the Burlington County Fire Marshall, the NJ DFS and Pemberton Township Police Department.
