Oklahoma Firefighters Battle Barn Blaze

June 9, 2008
Firefighters treated for smoke inhalation, minor eye injury.

At 3:30 p.m. on June 3, Paradise Valley firefighters were dispatched for a fully engulfed structure fire at 12558 NW McClung Rd.

When crews arrived they found heavy smoke and fire showing in the barn behind the residence. The fire quickly spread from the barn to a nearby parked car and farm tractor.

At the same time a grass fire started behind the barn due to the intense flames coming from the barn. No homes we're immediately in danger.

Additional supported was requested by Comanche County Emergency Management for Meers, Medicine Park, Porter Hill, and Wichita Mountains Estates volunteer fire departments to assist.

Elgin EMS medics were dispatched to assist one volunteer fire fighter with smoke inhalation and another with a minor eye injury.

The fire was eventually brought under control a few hours later.
