The Latham Fire Department responded to a reported structure in a private dwelling on Mother's Day.

First arriving units confirmed a working fire. A woman and her infant narrowly escaped the blaze.

Crews had the fire under control in 25 minutes. Cause is believed to be unattended cooking.
