Camden City Crews Fight Dwelling Fire

On May 6 at 7 p.m. a dwelling box was dispatched in Camden City at 1237 Whitman Ave.

Police arriving on the scene observed an occupant going back into the house. The occupant exited moments later with his Playstation in hand.

Engine 8 arrived on location and reported heavy smoke showing from the second floor. Battalion 1 arrived and struck an all hands. Firefighters reported a two story middle of the row dwelling with heavy smoke showing.

Engine 8 went in operation with a one-and-three-quarter inch hand line as Ladder 2 set up ground ladders. Rescue 1 arrived and performed a search with negative results.

Crews placed 3 one-and-a-quarter-inch hand lines in operation to knock the fire down without extension to the exposures.

No injuries were reported on the fire ground.
