North Carolina Blaze Causes $300,000 in Damages

Blaze was under control in about an hour

On Saturday May 17, Western Carteret Fire and EMS responded to the 1000 block of Cedar Point Blvd. for a reported structure fire that was fully involved. Heavy smoke could be seen from the station.

Upon arrival, units found a two-story wood frame structure 3500 square feet with 75 percent involvement. A water supply was established by the second due engine company. The first due engine company pulled a two-and-a-half inch smooth bore for initial attack.

Bystanders advised command that no one was inside at the time of the fire.

Crews initiated an offensive attack. Four other mutual aid departments responded to the incident. Multiple hand lines were deployed to bring the fire under control. Local law enforcement was brought in to control traffic due to LDH having been deployed on the highway.

The fire was under control in about an hour, with units remaining on the scene for extended overhaul. No injuries were reported. Damages were estimated at $300,000.
