California Firefighters Battle Blaze

The roof of the single-story home collapsed.

On Friday, May 16, units of the Saratoga, Palo Alto and Santa Clara County Fire Departments combined efforts to contain a large fire that broke out in a home on Durham Court in the town of Saratoga some time before 2:50 p.m.

The first unit on scene, Palo Alto Truck 6, observed a column of smoke while en route back to their home quarters from a training engagement. Once on scene firefighters initiated an offensive attack and search that was cut short when the roof of the single-story home collapsed.

After firefighters vacated the structure a defensive attack was successfully deployed to contain the blaze to the fire building and protect exposures.

There were no injuries due to the fire and the cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
