Maryland Firefighters Respond to Blaze

As the engine company extinguished the bulk of the fire all searches turned up negative.

Just before 3:30 p.m., the box alarm was transmitted for the house on fire and people trapped at 7618 Allendale Drive in Palmer Park.

Engine Company, Tower Ladder, Chief and President 33 responded on the run with 12 volunteers. The remainder of the assignment consisted of Engines 8, 5, 30, Quint 22 (as a Truck Company) and Truck 17.

Chief 33 was the first to arrive and reported fire showing from a two-story triple style row. He also established the "Allendale" Command. Engine Company 33 arrived, laid a supply line in and stretched the Kentland front bumper line into the home.

Tower Ladder 33, arriving seconds behind the engine, placed multiple portable ladders and ventilated as the interior crew performed a rapid primary search for the report trapped occupants. As the engine company extinguished the bulk of the fire all searches turned up negative.

A large amount of extension was also found in the front of the second floor. Engine Company 5 was assigned as the exposure group and reported no extension into 7620 Allendale Drive. Command scaled the incident back to Engine Companies 33, 8 and Tower Ladder 33 approx. 10 minutes into the incident.

Within 20 minutes from the time of the initial alarm only the units from Kentland were held.
