May 5, 2008
The large volume of fire in the house created the need for extra crews.

At 4:15 p.m., Nassau County Fire Communications toned out the South Farmingdale Fire Department for a house fire with people trapped at 13 Lyons Street.

Moments later, the crew of NCPD Ambulance 2368 reported that he had heavy smoke in the area. The first arriving South Farmingdale units located a fire at 15 Lyons Street. The fire was located in a single-story story house. The fire had control of the basement and was rapidly taking the first floor.

The crew of E971 was first on scene, and initiated an aggressive interior attack. The North Massapequa Fire Department was automatically requested for 1 FAS Team to the scene. At the same time, the interior command requested E7, L3 from Bethpage to respond to the scene.

Multiple lines were stretched but firefighters couldn't get a handle on the fire due to a floor collapse early into operations. All members were pulled out ,and reorganized them for a defensive attack. The large volume of fire in the house created the need for extra crews.

These included two engines from The Village of Farmingdale, engine and ambulance from Massapequa, tower ladder from Plainview, Bethpage cascade unit, Hicksvilles cascade unit to the scene, and a tower ladder and ambulance to standby.

Command placed the fire under control at 6:10 p.m.
