Pennsylvania Firefighters Respond to House Fire

On February 9, 2003, the Broomall Fire Company of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, was dispatched to a working house fire at 219 Harvest Lane.

At approximately 22:40 February 9, 2003, the Broomall Fire Company of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, was dispatched to a working house fire at 219 Harvest Lane.

Chief 53-9 went on location reporting heavy fire from the garage with extension into the second floor bedroom above the garage. Tele-squrt 53 was the first in engine, laying a 5 inch line to the hydrant which was 100' from the house.

Crews advanced a 1.5" line to the interior, while another crew advanced a 3" line to the garage. Snorkel 53 started roof ventilation almost immediately after arriving on scene, while the second arriving Engine 53-3 advanced a second 3" line to the garage.

Crews were evacuated from the second floor bedroom after it was discovered the wooden I-beams were failing and in danger of collapse.

Crews remained on scene until 0300hrs. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. South Media Fire Company 51 covered station 53 during the incident.
