A quick assessment determined the need for additional resources and a mutual aid request went out to North Patchogue and Bellport Fire Departments.

At 2:57 pm on Friday, October 6, 2006, Hagerman Fire Department and South Country Ambulance was activated for an MVA with multiple overturns and entrapments. A quick assessment determined the need for additional resources and a mutual aid request went out to North Patchogue and Bellport Fire Departments.

One of the entrapped victims was pinned between the two vehicles and any movement would have surely caused more extensive injuries. After securing the vehicles a successful extrication took place and the victim was transported via the Suffolk County Police Department Aviation Division. Another victim who is pregnant and was not entrapped was given immediate medical assistance and also transported by helicopter as well.

On scene to assist were Suffolk County Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services personal who help coordinate as well as actually assist with the extrication and rescue. A special thanks to the Suffolk County Emergency Services Unit for there assistance and once again there ability and willingness to coordinate with four other agencies so we all worked as one.
