Pa. Firefighters Contain Industrial Building Fire

A call for an industrial building fire was received at the Northampton County 911 Center on Monday, Feb. 20 at about 11 p.m. in the area of N.13th Street and Wood Ave. in the City of Easton. 

Both the  Easton and Wilson Borough Fire Departments were dispatched to the Rookwood Pigments plant located on the border of these two communities.

Heavy fire was found in a building roughly 300' x 50' x 75' when the first units arrived. Both departments were placed into service bringing approximately 50 firefighters to the scene.

No injuries were reported, but a partial building collpase in the center of the building occured. It took more than an hour to place the blaze under control.

As of this submission, no cause has been determined do to the instability of the building. The Palmer Municipal Fire Dept. was placed on standby to cover further calls in the city during the incident.
