Smoke Alerts Minnesota Residents to Apartment Fire

Several occupants escaped a basement fire that filled a two-story apartment building with smoke in St. Paul on May 29.

Three engines, one ladder, one rescue squad, one medic and a district chief were dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the building on Edmund Avenue about 7:20 a.m.

Engine 14 reported smoke showing from the building and the assignment was filled out with one engine, one ladder, one rescue squad and a district chief.

Firefighters stretched several attack lines into the building and located a small fire in the basement. The fire created a large amount of smoke, which filled the building.

No batteries were found in the smoke detectors in the building.
