Residents Escape From Oregon Apartment Fire

Residents say smoke alarms alerted them to a early morning apartment fire in Milwaukie on Aug. 8.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Clackamas Fire District 1 responded to multiple reports of an apartment fire at the Westview Villa Apartment Complex. Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from the both sides of unit.

They went to work pulling large hoselines and extinguishing the fire. Residents of the involved building were in the process of evacuating the structure as fire crews arrived.

The fire was brought under control in under one hour.

One man living in the involved fire building has been transported by American Medical Response in stable condition to an area hospital with non-life threatening smoke inhalation.

The fire building was made up of four two-story apartment units and was home to 15 residents.

Several residents of the affected fire building reported that they were alerted to the fire by properly installed and working smoke alarms.
