Pickup Truck Strikes Tree in Oregon

Sept. 9, 2012

With Canby Fire resources already working two emergency incidents, dispatchers received a call for a two vehicle accident with entrapment on Sept. 8.

The accident, near the intersection of S. New Era Rd and S. Central Point Road, in rural Canby, required mutual aid from Clackamas Fire because of the other emergencies. Crews found two Ford pickup trucks involved in the accident. One rolled over, landing on the roof and the other went off the road into a cluster of trees.

After a quick assessement triage, it was determined that the victim from the rolled over pick-up was uninjured, but there was an injured victim who was trapped in the other vehicle. A second occupant of the pickup was not injured.

Firefighters utilized rescue tools to remove the door to assist with extrication efforts. The adult female victim was then removed via a long backboard and transported by AMR with non- life threatening injuries.
