Around 1:20 p.m., in the beach-side Town of Melbourne Beach, the first 911 call was recieved reporting a fire at a house 441. An explosion could be heard from miles away and the smoke column was visible from over 10 miles away.

Firefighters from the Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Department, Brevard County Fire Department, Indialantic Fire Department and Indian Harbor Beach Fire Department responded and brought the fire under control.

All occupants were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported.

The fire is reported to have started in the garage and the state fire marshal was called to the scene.

It was later determined that that explosion that neighbors heard was a SCUBA tank.
