Driver Escapes Texas Tanker Fire

A tanker hauling over 8,000 gallons of gasoline caught fire in East Harris County on Nov. 2. 

At approximately 7:44 p.m. a gasoline tank truck overturned on East Sam Houston Parkway near the Crosby Freeway. 

Upon arrival, fire crews from the Sheldon Fire Department found the truck fully involved.

The Harris County Hazardous Materials Response Team was also called in to assist. HM-2, a type I - foam tender, applied fire fighting foam to extinguish the fire. 

Units from the Crosby and Huffman fire departments were also called in to help with water supply operations.

Representatives from Harris County Pollution Control and the Texas Commision on Environmental Quality are on scene monitoring the clean up efforts.

The truck driver was transported to a local hospital with minor burns and is in stable condition.
