Camden Responds to Vacant Building Fire

On Nov. 2, a building fire was reported at 27th and Federal Streets in East Camden near a Camden firehouse.

Battalion 2 arrived and reported heavy smoke and fire showing from a a one-story, vacant building. The All Hands box was struck as command reported a gas fed fire in the rear of the building with heavy fire conditions.

Engine 9 and Engine 11 secured water supplies as Ladder 3 and Ladder 1 went into operation with ladder pipes for defensive operations.  Multiple 2 1/2-inch handlines were placed into operation. 

Crews protected the occupied exposures that were several feet away from the original fire building and prevented the fire from extending.

One firefighter was treated for minor injuries. 

The fire was knocked down and placed under control with no extension beyond the fire building.
