Texas Townhomes Hit by Christmas Fire

Fort Worth firefighters used a ground ladder to rescue four people trapped on a balcony as fire swept through a townhome complex early Christmas morning. 

Units responded to a reported structure fire at 12641 Bay Ave. around 2 a.m. and unit reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the common roof of a group of townhomes.

On arrival, Engine 27's crews was notified of a family on the rear balcony of one of the involved units. The crew deployed a ladder and rescued the two adults and two children. 

About 2:30 a.m. a second alarm was requested and a third alarm was sounded at 2:57 a.m.

Firefighters used a number of attack lines to bring the fire under control at 3:12 a.m.

The fire caused extensive damaged to four units and at least 10 people were displaced. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
