Shortly after 10:00 a.m. on Dec. 29, Nash County firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire on Route 64 near Worth Road in Spring Hope.

The first arriving units found heavy smoke and fire conditions in a large three-story, A-frame, occupied dwelling. Firefighters attempted to make an aggressive interior attack, but were driven out due to the heavy fire conditions. The occupants were able to exit the home before the firefighters arrived.

There was no local water supply and additional fire companies from Nash County and Franklin counties were called to help fight the blaze. Three drop tanks were setup and water supplied by tankers.

Two firefighters were injured with non-life threatening injuries and were transported by Nash County EMS to a local hospita and they were treated and released

It took firefighters over two hours to bring the blaze under control. The fire is being investigated by the Nash County Fire Marshal's office.

Firefighters from Spring Hope, Ferrell, Stan Hope, Momeyer, Justice and Pilot fire companies responded.
