Fire Damages Three Homes in Kansas

A three-alarm fire that started in a vacant house in Independence on Jan. 1 spread to two other homes before being brought under control.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a vacant two-story dwelling fully involved. Residences to either side were also significantly damaged by radiant heat.

The department responded with a quint and two engines. Mutual aid was also requested from the Montgomery County Independence Rural Fire Department who responded with an additional engine.
