Crews Battle Intense Flames at N.C. House Fire

Shortly after 3 p.m. on March 4, the Rocky Mount fire department responded to an occupied residential structure on the 900 Block of Arlington Street.

The first-in engine company reported that they had house heavily involved in fire. Crews were forced to make an exterior attack and quickly had the bulk of the fire knocked down.

The occupants were able to flee the dwelling before the arrival of the fire department.

It took over one hour to bring the fire under control. Firefighters remained on the scene overhauling and checking for hot spots. 

No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal's office.

The American Red Cross responded to assist the family with temporary housing.

Units on scene: Engine Companies 1, 4, 5, Ladder Companies 10 and 30, Squad Companies 1 and 2. Battalion Chiefs 1 and 2, the Safety Officer and the Division Chief.
