At 5:10 p.m. on March 27, several callers to 911 reported smoke coming from the roof of a home located at 12435 SW Knoll Drive in Tigard.
Firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R) found that heavy fire in an attached garage that spread into the attic of the home.
The incident commander ordered a search of the house while other personnel initiated an aggressive attack on the fire.
Firefighters used chainsaws to vent the roof; and the blaze was controlled in approximately 15 minutes. The fire was largely contained to the garage and attic.
The five residents of the home were away when the fire started. They are staying with relatives in Tigard.
