Bloomington firefighters from Engine 6 and Ladder 5 found the dog in distress about 40 feet from shore surrounded by ice.

On April 18, at approximately 10:03 a.m. Bloomington firefighters from Stations 5 and 6 responded to a water rescue at the off-leash dog part located on W 110th St. and Nesbitt Ave.

The caller reported a dog had fallen through the ice and the dog handler was attempting to rescue it.

Firefighters from Engine 6 and Ladder 5 found the dog in distress about 40 feet from shore surrounded by ice.

Two firefighters entered the water wearing cold water rescue suites and rescued the dog.

The dog was wrapped in blankets and reunited with its owner.
