Aug. 23, 2013
Upon arrival the call was made for mutual aid when Hawthorne firefighters found a fully involved shed that spread to an adjacent home.

Three departments responded to a shed fire that quickly spread to a vacant home in Hawthorne on Aug. 3.

Crews from the Hawthorne Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a "huge fire" in a backyard.

Upon arrival the call was made for mutual aid when firefighters found a fully involved shed that spread to an adjacent home. Several other nearby structures were threatened.

The exposures were protect and then the attack was moved to the structure.

Additional crews from Walker Lake Volunteer Fire and SOC Fire arrived to provide mutual aid. From there we fought the fire for the next couple of hours. Overall the structure was saved but more than likely will be uninhabitable.

Units on scene: HVFD E-1, E-2, C-1, SOCFD Truck-1, E-1, WLVFD E-1, C-6
